With the development of economy and technology, competition among enterprises is becoming increasingly intense. Many companies decide to expand their companies scale and business through mergers and acquisitions to achieve maximum profits. Takeover is a business behaviour that one company is purchased by another one. There are several types of takeover, including friendly takeovers, hostile takeovers, reverse takeovers and backflip takeovers. Even though some mergers and acquisitions can bring about synergy and more substantial profits, some takeovers are not welcome. Therefore, a large numbers of measures are taken by target companies to defend the hostile takeover. In this essay, I state different types of takeover defence and their characteristics. Furthermore, I introduce their practical application taking the merger of Kraft and Cadbury as an example. Different types of defensive strategies Defensive strategies can be classified into active measures and preventive measures. After that, the latter bought back these shares held by Icahn at the price of 36 dollars per share. Icahn totally invested $20,000,000 in the merger activities and made 900 million dollars profits after these stocks were repurchased. As the US tax law regulates that the income from greenmail should pay 50 percent of the tax. Over time the response became more and more negative than positive. People were getting used to the spread of Buddhism because they knew that it wasn’t going away anytime soon. The background information I was given explains that since China was unstable at this time Confucianism was on the decline which made Buddhism easier to rise. Document one does not really state a response to the spread of Buddhism in China.This document is just three of the four noble truths that the Buddha preached. This document does not go into any grouping that I have because it does not explain anything about the spread of Buddhism. Certain documents had a positive response to the spread. One of the documents was summarizing the fourth noble truth that the Buddha preached, but it also explaine d the goal of Buddhism (Document 2). Another example of a positive response is the one that explains how Confucius, Laozi, and the Buddha are alike in what they wanted for their respective religions.They all three wanted the same, but it was the difference in time periods that set them apart (Document 5). The next document I am going to explain is both positive and negative. The answers that are used are more positive than the questions, but still have a negative side to them. This document explains how Confucian classics do not contain everything so they ask why there is suspicion that Buddhism is so bad. The person talks about Buddha as a unicorn compared to other sages as a white deer; however, white deer are rare and unicorns are unreal. This person is saying that the Buddha does not really exist so why should Buddhism.The questions in this document are more negative because it talks about how if Buddhism is so great then why didn’t Confucius practice it. The questions al so point out that monks do not marry or have families, they only care about goodness and wisdom, which is not part of Chinese culture (Document 3). However to the positives also bring some negatives. Although, one of the documents has a negative response by saying that the Buddha does not conform to the Chinese culture, the scholar took greatly to Buddhism because he knows it will continue to spread until later when China becomes more stable and Confucianism returns.He is basically saying that why should Buddhism be honored if it has not originated in China. I believe that there is some bias in this excerpt because the person writing it is a Confucian scholar. (Document 4). Document 4 and document 6 tie together because they were written about the same time. This document talks about how Buddhism is an infection to China and is spreading like a vine throughout the country. He also says the country will suffer because people will stop their jobs to follow the Buddha.Buddhism in his w ords are like weeds, they don’t stop growing even if you pull them they grow back again and again. This excerpt also states how scared China was of the spread and how it could change the Chinese culture (Document 6). Additional pieces that I could use are the reports and consultations of the general public. These would be helpful to see how it impacted the whole country of China through the eyes of the public not just people that have power in the courts.

Why Would Illegal Immigrants Self-Deport

There are many proposals and plans that try to answer important question of what to do with the millions of illegal immigrants currently in the country. One of those solutions is the concept of self-deportation. What exactly does it mean? Definition: Self-deportation is a concept supported by many conservatives as one of the chief means of reducing the number of people who have illegally entered the country and broken any number of laws in order to obtain employment, government benefits, or healthcare services. Self-deportation is an idea supporting the belief that individuals here illegally will voluntarily leave the country, as they discover that what they illegally entered the country for his unavailable to them. This is achieved through what is often referred to as demagnetization, an attempt to remove the incentives available to those illegally in the country. Self-deportation requires the enactment of no laws, only that current immigration, employment, and other laws already on the books be enforced. The chief magnet drawing illegal aliens to the United States is employment. Some employers often overlook or ignore the immigration status of workers, instead opting for the cheap labor provided by them. Often, these employees work off the books and pay no taxes. This practice hurts American workers as it reduces available jobs for US citizens and legal immigrants, as well as by artificially deflating the wage rate. Self-deportation is the chief means by which the United States will be able to reduce the number of illegal immigrants in the country. Critics of those who favor strong anti-illegal immigration policies routinely state that it is impossible to round up and deport over 10 million illegal aliens. The answer to this is self-deportation, as the ability to live illegally in the country no longer becomes beneficial, and entering the country through proper means is beneficial. There is some evidence that the concept of self-deportation works. The Pew Hispanic Center released a study in early 2012 that estimated the number of illegal immigrants from Mexico living in the United States dropped by roughly 1 million people, or about 15%, from 2007 to 2012. The chief explanation was the lack of jobs due to the recession and downturn in the economy. Unable to find work, these people self-deported. Similarly, making jobs unavailable to these illegal immigrants through tougher employment enforcement would have a similar effect. People in favor of the concept of self-deportation typically favor strict immigration laws, a closed border, employment verification programs such as e-verify, and an increase in legal immigration. The increase in support for legal immigration highlights conservative efforts to support the rule of law and respect for the talents and ethics of those who wish to become US citizens the right way.
